Inside Line Promotions – SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (June 10, 2019) – Jason Sides is bound for Knoxville Raceway this weekend to tackle the Brownells Big Guns Bash.

The two-day World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series event is the final opportunity to get some laps in at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, prior to the Knoxville Nationals in August.

“We have a different car we’re going to run there to make sure everything is good,” he said. “Without being there any other time you have to use this as a test session. If it works good we’ll start using it regularly.”

Sides competed in a trio of World of Outlaws races last week, when the start of each night buried him.

“We were trying to save laps on the motors so we had a little older spare engine I wouldn’t normally run,” he said. “We took our really good engines out to save laps on them for the bigger races this summer.”

Sides qualified 20th quickest and advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race on Tuesday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill. He closed the night with a 21st-place showing in the feature.

He headed to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., on Friday for the Northern Tour. A 24th-place qualifying run was followed with a seventh-place finish in a heat race. Sides gained a handful of positions in the feature to finish 17th.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Granite City Speedway. He qualified much better with a ninth-place showing, but a fifth-place finish in a heat race lined him up midpack for the main event. He ended the night 16th.
