Inside Line Promotions – SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. (June 10, 2019) – Kraig Kinser produced his second top five of the season last Tuesday during the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown.

The solid performance was the highlight of a busy week for Kinser, who qualified 12th quickest, placed third in a heat race and charged from 12th to fifth place in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series main event at Fairbury Speedway in Fairbury, Ill.

“It was the best car we had all week,” he said. “It was great to hit a good setup. It worked really well for us and we had a solid performance. You just have to go where they aren’t running and have a little luck. The race played out pretty well for us. That’s what we’re trying to hit is the car feeling like that all the time.”

From there the team ventured to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., on Friday for the Northern Tour. Kinser again timed in 12th quickest and finished third in a heat race. He capped the night with a ninth-place run in the A Main.

“If we had a few things swing our way we could have made up some ground,” he said. “We had a solid car, but I think we could have been better. There’s always something you can look back and say if I would have done this or that. What you do is try to learn and take good notes to help you the next time you see that situation.”

Granite City Speedway hosted the weekend finale on Saturday. Kinser qualified 14th quickest before he recorded a fifth-place result in a heat race. He gained a pair of positions in the main event to finish 12th.

“I think we could have been a little better,” he said. “We were a tick off all night. There was some room for improvement.”

Next up is the Brownells Big Guns Bash this Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.

“Every time you go to Knoxville you’re always learning for the Nationals,” he said. “It’s in the back of your mind you have something you want to run for the Nationals whether it’s chassis or motors. It is a points night though and you need to race as hard as you can.”
